Specialist Clinical Psychology, Delivered Online

Dr Alex Hull, HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist

I’m Dr Alex Hull, a HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience supporting adults, young people, and families with a range of psychological difficulties.

Leazes Clinical Psychology is a small, independent practice, which means that you will work directly with me. I never outsource work to associates or less experienced clinicians. Keeping the practice small allows me to offer thoughtful, individual care and take the time to understand each person properly. And all without waiting lists.

My work is grounded in clinical psychology, meaning I focus on developing a clear understanding of what is happening for you psychologically and why. By identifying the patterns, experiences, and pressures shaping current difficulties, we can develop practical ways forward.

I commonly support people experiencing:

• anxiety, stress, and persistent overthinking

• emotional regulation difficulties, including anger or burnout

• ADHD

addiction

• relationship and family pressures

• sleep difficulties

Many of the people who seek support here are thoughtful, capable individuals who may appear to be coping well on the outside but feel overwhelmed or stuck internally. Therapy offers a space to slow down, understand these patterns more clearly, and develop healthier ways of responding.

Sessions are offered online, allowing people to access specialist clinical psychology support in a flexible and confidential way.

My aim is to provide a calm, respectful, and collaborative space where people feel able to speak openly and gain a deeper understanding of themselves, supporting meaningful and lasting change.

More about me

What working together looks like

Beginning therapy can feel like a significant step. Many people arrive unsure exactly what to expect, or whether talking about their experiences will truly make a difference. My aim is to provide a calm, thoughtful space where we can begin to make sense of what has been happening and consider how things might move forward.

Our first meeting focuses on understanding you and the difficulties you are facing. This involves exploring your current concerns, the context of your life, and any patterns that may have developed over time. Clinical psychology places great importance on developing a clear and shared understanding of these patterns, as this often provides the foundation for meaningful change.

As therapy progresses, we work together to explore the thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that may be maintaining the difficulties you are experiencing. Drawing on evidence-based psychological approaches, we look at practical ways to respond differently to these patterns, helping you develop new perspectives and strategies that feel realistic and sustainable.

Sessions are collaborative and paced according to your needs. Some people attend therapy for a relatively short period to work through a specific difficulty, while others find it helpful to take more time to reflect more deeply on longer-standing patterns in their lives.

The goal is not simply to reduce distress in the short term, but to help you develop a clearer understanding of how your mind works and the confidence to navigate future challenges with greater resilience and self-awareness.

Who I work with

I work with adults, young people, and families who are looking for thoughtful, evidence-based psychological support.

Many of the people who seek help are thoughtful and capable individuals who have been managing a great deal in their lives for some time. From the outside they may appear to be coping well, yet internally they may feel overwhelmed by anxiety, persistent overthinking, emotional pressure, or patterns that have become difficult to change alone.

I often work with people who are experiencing challenges such as anxiety, stress, ADHD-related difficulties, or problems with emotional regulation. Some come with a clear understanding of what they would like help with, while others simply recognise that something does not feel quite right and want the space to understand it more clearly.

I also work with parents who are concerned about their child or teenager’s emotional wellbeing. In these situations, support may involve working directly with the young person, supporting parents to better understand what their child may be experiencing, or a combination of both.

Therapy can be particularly helpful for people who are open to reflecting on their experiences and who would value a clearer understanding of how their mind works. The aim is always to provide a calm, respectful space where difficulties can be understood more clearly and where practical ways of moving forward can begin to emerge.

Professional standards

As a Clinical Psychologist, my work is guided by recognised professional and ethical standards.

I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the statutory regulator for practitioner psychologists in the United Kingdom. This ensures that my work meets nationally recognised standards of training, competence, and professional practice.

I have over a decade of clinical experience working across NHS and local authority services, supporting individuals, young people, and families with a wide range of psychological difficulties.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based psychological therapies and guided by current research in clinical psychology. This means that the work we do together is thoughtful, structured, and focused on creating meaningful and lasting change.

Fees

Therapy sessions are £150 for a 50-minute appointment.

Sessions are available online via secure video consultation.

For many people, therapy represents an investment in their wellbeing and quality of life. The aim of our work together is not only to reduce distress in the short term, but to develop a clearer understanding of the patterns that may be shaping your experiences and to support meaningful, lasting change. In that sense, I hope that our work together will represent one of the best investments you can make.

The number and frequency of sessions can vary depending on your needs, and this can be discussed together during our first meeting.
